Give your photo another dimension
Use a photo to start a 3D brick model.
A favorite toy, a vehicle or a building can be a starting point for a new brick design. Upload a reference photo, choose 3D, and let Brick Bot create a model you can rotate and edit in the Studio.
Uses a paid 3D-generation credit after sign-in. Instructions and a LEGO upload list are included; physical bricks are purchased separately.
Choose 3D for an object
A 3D build has depth. You can look at it from the front, sides and back. It is a good format to try for a car, house, animal or toy when you want a small brick interpretation of its shape.
Current 3D generations can use up to 500 pieces. The result may simplify details and proportions.
Choose a mosaic for a picture
A flat mosaic keeps a single viewpoint and represents the picture on a tile grid. It can be a better fit when the goal is a face, portrait or photo-like composition rather than a freestanding object.
Brickoodle mosaics use 1,024 flat 1×1 tiles on a 32×32 grid. Read the mosaic guide.
How photo-to-3D generation works
- Pick a readable reference. Choose a sharp, well-lit image. A three-quarter view can show the front and side at once. Avoid hiding the subject behind other objects.
- Upload it in the Studio. Open Build with AI, choose “Use a photo instead,” and select the 3D build option, not the flat mosaic.
- Allow time for the build. Brick Bot interprets the image and generates a digital arrangement of supported pieces. Expect several minutes. You can return later using the same account.
- Check it from every angle. Rotate the result, inspect how the pieces connect and make manual adjustments. The model is saved to your account.
- Review the included instructions and parts list. Check the design’s stability before buying. Upload the list at LEGO Pick a Brick and review the physical pieces, quantities and prices there.
One photo cannot reveal every side
This is an AI interpretation, not a 3D scan. A photo does not show hidden surfaces, exact dimensions or all the connections a brick model needs. The AI has to make choices about those missing details, so the back or underside can differ from the real object.
If matching the subject is your priority, crop the reference so it is prominent while keeping the context you want included. A cluttered background can compete with the subject. Tiny lettering, fine textures and narrow projections may be simplified to fit the piece budget.
AI-generated models are not physically certified. For a tall or top-heavy design, inspect the support, base and load-bearing connections before purchasing the bricks. Some designs need manual changes.
What you get with the 3D Design Pack
The 3D Design Pack is $14.99 for 3 generations, using text prompts or photo references. Each generation includes building instructions and a LEGO upload list. Eligible existing 3D-pack customers can add 2 more 3D generations for $9.99. Prices are in USD and there is no subscription.
These are digital services, not a box of bricks. LEGO is paid separately for the physical pieces. Stock, colors and prices can change before checkout. A new AI attempt uses another credit; failed generations return their credit. See all current pack options.
Photo-to-3D questions
Can I turn a photo into a LEGO model?
You can use a photo to generate an editable brick design with a shopping list that maps supported pieces to LEGO elements. It is an AI interpretation, so inspect the result and its real-world stability. Brickoodle is independent of the LEGO Group.
Will the model look exactly like the original?
Not necessarily. The AI works with a limited piece budget, supported shapes and colors, and only the information visible in your image. Expect a simplified brick interpretation; hidden sides and fine details can differ.
Are 3D and mosaic credits interchangeable?
No. Photo-to-3D uses the 3D-generation balance, while flat photo mosaics use the mosaic-generation balance. Choose the pack and photo mode that match the result you want.
Can I build from words instead?
Yes. A 3D-generation credit also works with a typed idea. The AI brick builder guide shows how to describe a subject clearly.
